The Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI) has been a long-time friend and partner of the Gender Violence Research and Collaboration Network (GVR-CN). Over the past year, our collaboration has been instrumental in supporting the growth and reach of our network, especially in our shared commitment to addressing gender-based violence on a global scale.

In 2024, the GVR-CN had the privilege of supporting the SVRI Forum by hosting several impactful events during the forum with space and resources provided at the forum by SVRI. With nearly 2,000 attendees from over 50 countries, the Forum became a vital platform for discussing the pressing issues surrounding gender violence, mental health, and community support. SVRI’s leadership ensured early career researchers (ECRs) had dedicated spaces for connection and development, such as our celebrated "ECRs meet the Research Giants" event, where early- and mid-career researchers engaged directly with senior leaders in the field. These opportunities were invaluable for participants, allowing for meaningful networking, knowledge exchange, and personal growth.

Beyond the forum, SVRI has also been a key partner in promoting GVR-CN's online network events. Together, we ran four webinars during the 16 Days of Activism in 2024, focusing on critical topics such as community outreach, mental health in gender-based violence research, and creating more inclusive spaces for early-career researchers. These events have helped bring together a diverse group of researchers, practitioners, and advocates committed to driving change.

Looking ahead, the collaboration between SVRI and GVR-CN will deepen even further. In 2025, SVRI is granting the GVR-CN its first funding since its inception, marking a significant milestone in our partnership. This funding will empower us to launch new initiatives, including a mentorship program to support early-career researchers and the development of an advisory board to guide our collective work in the future. We are excited about the opportunities this partnership will bring in the years to come, as we continue to foster a community of collaboration, support, and innovation in the fight against gender-based violence.

Together, we are not just sharing knowledge—we are creating spaces where emerging voices can thrive, networks can grow, and real change can happen.
